Large Deviations of Combinatorial Distributions I: Central Limit Theorems

چکیده

We prove a general central limit theorem for probabilities of large deviations for sequences of random variables satisfying certain natural analytic conditions. This theorem has wide applications to combinatorial structures and to the distribution of additive arithmetical functions. The method of proof is an extension of Kubilius’ version of Cramér’s classical method based on analytic moment generating functions. We thus generalize Cramér’s and Kubilius’ theorems on large deviations. AMS 1991 subject classifications. Primary 60F10, 60F10; secondary 60C05, 11K65.

Large deviations of combinatorial distributions II: Local limit theorems

This paper is a sequel to our paper [17] where we derived a general central limit theorem for probabilities of large deviations1 applicable to many classes of combinatorial structures and arithmetic functions; we consider corresponding local limit theorems in this paper. More precisely, given a sequence of integral random variables {Ωn}n≥1 each of maximal span 1 (see below for definition), we a...

We study the stochastic homogenization processes consid ered by Baldi and by Facchinetti and Russo We precise the speed of convergence towards the homogenized state by proving the following results i a large deviations principle holds for the Young measures if the Young measures are evaluated on a given function then ii the speed of convergence is bounded in every L norm by an explicit rate and...

Limit theorems in discrete stochastic geometry

This overview surveys two general methods for establishing limit theorems for functionals in discrete stochastic geometry. The functionals of interest are linear statistics with the general representation ∑x∈X ξ (x,X ), where X is locally finite and where the interactions of x with respect to X , given by ξ (x,X ), exhibit spatial dependence. We focus on subadditive methods and stabilization me...

Se p 20 06 LIMIT THEOREMS FOR COUPLED INTERVAL MAPS

We prove a local limit theorem for Lipschitz continuous observables on a weakly coupled lattice of piecewise expanding interval maps. The core of the paper is a proof that the spectral radii of the Fourier-transfer operators for such a system are strictly less than 1. This extends the approach of [KL06] where the ordinary transfer operator was studied. 1. Results This paper deals with the issue...

There is a vast riches of limit theorems for sums of independent random variables: theorems about weak convergence, on large deviations, theorems with asymptotic expansions, etc. We can try to obtain the same kinds of theorems for families of stochastic processes. If X1, X2, ..., Xn, ... is a sequence of independent identically distributed random variables with expectation EXi = 0 and variance ...
